Osborne County Community Foundation Donation

Jul 05, 2023

Midway Co-op Association, Inc. in conjunction with CoBank donated a total of $10,000 to the Osborne County Community Foundation.  CoBank is a regional cooperative that matches dollar-for-dollar cash donations from its local cooperative members like Midway Co-op through their annual Sharing Success Program. The donations are designed to support rural America by strengthening the communities they serve. Midway Coops donation of $5,000 was matched by CoBank for a total of $10,000.

The mission of the Osborne County Community Foundation is to build permanent endowment funds and meet charitable community needs.  Since its inception in 2017, over 183 grants totaling more than $780,000 have been given out in Osborne County to schools, churches, libraries, thrift stores, Scouts, city projects, emergency services, and other non-profit organizations.   Schools have received grants for reading programs, field trips, value-affirming assemblies, classroom upgrades, technology, shop projects and more.  Cities in Osborne County have received upgrades to buildings, and beautification projects have been undertaken.  Churches have been able to upgrade and maintain facilities, ensuring they will be able to continue serving our county for decades to come.  Thrift stores, vital for so many residents, have received beautiful facelifts both inside and out.  Children’s programs, such as Scouts, football for younger kids, library programs, and summer programs, have benefited from grants from OCCF.  Emergency Services have received life-saving tools.  The list goes on and on.  While the dollar amounts are easily figured, the long-lasting impact these grants have had on the Osborne County community is beyond measure.

“Our regional cooperatives continue to invest back into our local communities.  It is an easy decision for us to make our donation and apply for matching funds that double our donation and can make a real difference in our communities.  OCCF has done many wonderful things for the community, and we are proud to be founding donors of OCCF,” said Craig Mans, Midway Coop General Manager.
