Midway Co-op Donation to NCK Youth Fair

May 16, 2024

Midway Coop is pleased to announce a donation of $5,000 to the North Central Kansas Outdoor Youth Fair with a matching donation from CHS Seeds for Stewardship grant, for a total of $10,000!  The funds will be used to purchase portable picnic tables for the youth fair and other community events.

The 1st Youth Fair was held in 2005 with just 19 participants. This event continues to grow each year. In 2023, there were 561 kids plus their parents, grandparents, or guardians in attendance.  The Youth Fair is a non-profit organization that is run by community outdoor enthusiasts wanting to share their love of the great outdoors with all youth. This event is widely participated by families in over 52 cities throughout Kansas and parts of Nebraska, Colorado, and Missouri, that come to Osborne to experience outdoor activities including canoeing, rope making, fishing, fur harvesting, wild game tasting, mountain biking, archery and much more!

Donations for the youth fair are gathered from Osborne and surrounding counties. Prizes are purchased locally as much as possible. And over 100 volunteers are sought each year to help with this one-day event.  Over 1,500 hamburgers & hotdogs are served to all attendees free of charge on the day of the event.

The 19th Annual NCK Outdoor Youth Fair is scheduled for Saturday, September 7, 2024. Over 500 kids and their parents, grandparents, or guardians are anticipated.  There will be prizes including outdoor camping, fishing, hunting and recreational gear. Each participating child will also receive a NCK Outdoor Youth Fair T-shirt.

“We’re proud to support this project,” says Midway Coop General Manager, Craig Mans. “Projects like this are essential to enriching our rural area and the people who live here.  Agriculture is the main economic driver in Osborne County, and we are proud to double our donation by working with our regional cooperative, CHS.  If you have never been to the youth fair, mark your calendar to attend.”
