Donation to Osborne County Emergency Building
Midway Co-op Association, Inc. in conjunction with CoBank donated a total of $5,000 to the Osborne Community Foundation for the Osborne County Emergency Services Building.  CoBank is a regional cooperative that matches dollar-for-dollar cash donations from its local cooperative members like Midway Co-op through their annual Sharing Success Program. The donations are designed to support rural America by strengthening the communities they serve. Midway Coops donation of $2,500 was matched by CoBank for a total of $5,000.

“We appreciate CoBank and other regional cooperatives that invest back into our communities.  It is an easy decision for us to make our donation and apply for matching funds that double our donation and can make a real difference in our communities,” said Craig Mans, Midway Coop Office Manager.

The money is being used to help complete the building. This project is an Emergency Service Facility that houses our EMS equipment and personnel, City Fire equipment, and the Rural Fire District #1 equipment. The building is 80-feet wide x 180-feet long and includes 4-bedrooms, living, dining, and exercise space along with 2-ea large conference/training rooms for our local emergency services. The facility is also equipped with a backup power generator and can serve as a command and control center in any community disaster. The building has 2-ea ambulance bays, a vehicle wash/dry bay, and 4-ea Fire/Rescue vehicle bays (typically 2 trucks per bay). This project was completed using donations and volunteer labor. The total donations raised for the project were approximately $580,000.
